Ionospheric Forecasting

Ionospheric Forecasting Solution for GNSS precise positioning under challenging ionospheric conditions.

SpacEarth NAV’s Ionospheric Forecasting Solution is designed to enhance the accuracy, reliability, and resilience of GNSS precise positioning under challenging ionospheric conditions. By anticipating ionospheric disturbances, the solution enables advanced error mitigation, ensuring consistent performance even in high-latitude and equatorial regions where GNSS signals are most vulnerable.

Built on a robust physics-based framework, the forecasting engine leverages transport theory and continuity equations, enhanced with dedicated source terms to accurately model both ionospheric dynamics and scintillation effects. The result is a high-fidelity, operationally ready product that supports mission-critical GNSS applications requiring precision, continuity, and trust.

The solution of the continuity equation is achieved through a robust numerical framework that a) discretizes the spatial domain using Delaunay triangulation, b) models TEC and scintillation parameters with piecewise linear approximations over the triangular mesh, and c) assumes a locally constant velocity field within each triangle. This approach ensures computational efficiency while preserving physical consistency.
